An important message from Fr Allan, who will be the new Parish Priest of both St Brigid’s and Holy Cross from September 19:

“I’m Fr Allan Cameron and am looking forward to coming to the parishes of St Brigid’s and Holy Cross. Unfortunately, I had already booked my annual summer holiday before the Archbishop asked me to move. Therefore, my first weekend in the two parishes will be 4/5 October. It is going to be difficult for us all to deal with sharing a priest between two parishes with such a wealth of faith history. The biggest issue and immediate impact will be having to cut each parish from three Sunday Masses to something more manageable for one priest. I am keen to try to make this change with input from yourselves. I realise it won’t be possible to please everyone, but I would appreciate your help in making the best possible decision. At the moment the times of Mass will remain the same in both parishes until I get there. They will have to change in October, and we’ll need to advertise the new times as widely as possible.

Here is the current provision:

  • Vigil (St Brigid’s) 4pm
  • Vigil (Holy Cross) 4.30pm
  • Sunday (St Brigid’s) 8am
  • Sunday (Holy Cross) 9.30am
  • Sunday (St Brigid’s) 11am
  • Sunday (Holy Cross) 11.30am

Perhaps you can have a chat with fellow parishioners this weekend about the question: If you were Fr Allan, how would you arrange Masses between the two parishes? If you like, you could send your thoughts to me by email:
